Abstract The review of the book by the Croatian historian Hrvoje Gračanin on the history of the region of Southern Pannonia, that is approximately the present-day historical region of Slavonia in Croatia, in the Late Antiquity and early Middle Ages (Gračanin, Hrvoje. Južna Panonija u kasnoj antici i ranom srednjovjekovlju (od konca 4. do konca 11. stoljeća). Zagreb: Plejada, 2011. 455 s. ISBN 978-953-7782-02-3). It is stressed by the author of the review that the publication of a comprehensive monograph on early medieval Slavonia is an important milestone in the history of the study of early medieval Slavonia.
