Аннотация  В статье рассматриваются процессы конструирования идентичностей в позднеантичном ираннесредневековом Иллирике. Важнейший вывод заключается в том, что речь шла о двухотдельных процессах. Первый процесс — это процесс аккультурации, в ходе которого местноенаселение «становится славянами» после «славянских миграций» VI—VII веков. Второй процесспроисходит в IX в. после дезинтеграции Аварского каганата, основания византийской фемы Далмации и образования империи франков. Изменившиеся политические обстоятельства при-водят к формированию более сложных политических образований и новых идентичностей, втом числе и хорватской, которые развиваются в пост-римском Иллирике.
