Abstract
Based on a wide range of both official and independent sources, the article examinesthe questions related to the «mutiny» of the appanage prince Andrey Ivanovich Staritskiy —uncle of the Grand Prince Ivan IV. The conflict between the appanage and Moscow courts thathad been imminent for several years became an open rift in spring of 1537, after the death ofimprisoned Yury Dmitrovskiy and refusal of Prince Staritskiy to come to Moscow. The grown-upuncle had been a real dynastic rival for his underage nephew, which was well understood bythe Grand Princess Elena Glinskaya ruling on behalf of her son. The article concludes that theappanage prince had a prefabricated operation plan and considers appanage troops march routes, chronological sequence of events, and actions of the Grand Princess voivods.
