Abstract The article presents brief review of academic career of and scholarly works by prominent Bulgarian mediaevalist Vassil Gjuzelev (born October 19, 1936) written by two his disciples – Bulgarian and Russian – and contains information on the main contributions of the academician to Slavic and Balkan studies in occasion with his 80th anniversary.
